Great blog, Mark! What a group and what an adventure! I don't think I'm going to be trying it any time soon but that Explore goes to such places is nothing short of amazing. Thanks for the time and sharing your story and pictures.

Is Tim up on the mountain right now? The Shira route is a very nice route to do. Would love to see some updates while he is up there but he probably only has cell phone access on the latter days.

Hi Tim!

I've just discovered your blog and thought I'll make contact.... I'll be climbing Kili in 14 days time (gulp) and have been writing about it on my blog - www.mykili2010adventure.blogspot.com, have a look!

My son is your age, so just to make you feel better - if I can make it, trust me, so can you! The only thing that can possibly get me is altitude sickness, not much I can do about that other than take the pills, so I'm just not going to stress about that. It is what it is!

Anyway, all the best for your trip! You have a great writing style, I loved reading your blog - keep it up!

Best regards

My husband and I also knew Shirley through playing bridge. We first met her in 1992 when we all joined an evening class to learn to play bridge. Shirley came along with her daughter to the class but Pam didn't seem as interested as her mother? Following the classes, most of the us wanted to carry on playing bridge and through the teacher, Rosemary Randerson, we joined Kenilworth Bridge Club where we met up with Shirley each Monday evening to play this wonderful game of bridge. We always liked to hear of her recent travels which she made very interesting and she had our utmost admiration. Shirley was a lovely, warm lady and we are very saddened to hear of her death and shall certainly miss her from the Bridge Club.
