Iceland: Land of Ice and Fire?

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007 by Paul Goodison

I am pleased to say that I am off with my family on a trip to Iceland next week with Explore. I’m really looking forward to it, especially after one of our approved Travel Agents, Lee Harrison, owner of Select World Travel, went on a recent agents’ trip with his daughter on the same tour - Land of Ice and Fire (Family Adventures).

You can read all about Lee’s trip on the Select World Travel site.

I am really looking forward to seeing this beautiful waterfall, and the wildlife and the geysers!

Explore frenzy

Friday, May 18th, 2007 by Paul Goodison

Lots of things happening around the office at present. We’ve launched our Short Breaks programme for 07/08 - some very interesting tours in terms of Winter breaks, Wildlife and culture! Two personal favourites:

Voodoo Villages based on our Cradle of Voodoo tour but shorter! Togo and Benin in West Africa for just under a week.

Tatras and Slovak Paradise - winter short break but the price is fantastic - wish I could go on this one this winter.

We’ve also launched a holiday promotion for Families new to Explore with 5% off 5 tours (you can see more here) - By the way, existing family customers already get 5% off any tour.

And there are also some more exciting developments coming soon, and I’m not talking about Explore Blogs Twitter account.

Travels with Sheila

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007 by Paul Goodison

Following yesterday’s posting I thought I would also introduce another good friend and ‘experienced’ Explore customer - Sheila Simkin. Sheila publishes the blog - Travels with Sheila where she posts about trips taken with different tour operators (including lots with Explore) and those organised independently. Sheila is based in the US and generally writes from an American perspective however the travel writing gives you an excellent flavour of places, people and what to look out for.

Always worth a read but particularly interesting series of posts on Uganda and Rwanda at the moment - I particularly liked this posting on Mburo as it shows Ankole cattle (one of my favourite aniumals - don’t know why!) and a shot of Boda - Bodas:

A “boda-boda” is either a motorcycle or bicycle used to carry passengers…similar to taxis and also used to haul goods on the back of them.

Sheila has suggested that this was one of her most inspiring trips and I can certainly see the attraction of Uganda from a wildlife and cultural perspective. Maybe next year…
